According to the website of the Washington, DC-based university, “The program will use advanced Web technology to create a highly interactive learning environment.  Students will complete the didactic portion of the program online and will complete the clinical portion in or close to their home community.”

The online nursing program will build upon Georgetown’s on-campus graduate nursing program.

Both programs are designed to prepare high-achieving BSN-prepared registered nurses to become leaders in specialized areas of advanced practice nursing.

The online nursing program which will apply Georgetown’s value-based curriculum and taught by Georgetown’s professors, will use such teaching tools as streaming videos, animation and other web-based technologies. It will also feature interactive online class sessions, small group discussions, and comprehensive student advising system.

The online initiative will help Georgetown further contribute to the nation’s advanced practice nursing workforce.

Georgetown University is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institution of higher learning in the United States.
