Careers in Healthcare

Healthcare is one of the largest industries in 2009, providing over 14 million jobs for wage and salary workers.

Ten of the 20 fastest growing occupations are healthcare related.

Healthcare is projected to generate over 3 million new wage and salary jobs between 2008 and 2018, more than any other industry, largely in response to rapid growth in the elderly population, and also as a result of the passage of the new healthcare reform bill which is projected to bring in over 30 million uninsured people into the system.

While many workers have jobs that require less than 4 years of college education, health diagnosing and treating practitioners are highly educated.
